The Summer EBT program is now SUN Bucks!
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has rebranded all federal Summer Nutrition Programs under the SUN program umbrella. This new name reflects the broad, bright impact the programs have for kids across the nation and in Minnesota, helping them thrive during the summer and beyond. SUN Bucks is the official branded name of the Summer EBT program.
Eligibility: School-aged children between the ages of 7-17 whose households participate in specific public assistance programs, or children who have an approved application to receive free and reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program. Children are automatically enrolled in SUN Bucks if they are eligible for any length of time between July 1, 2024 – Aug. 31, 2025.
SUN Bucks Benefit: For each eligible child, families will receive a new SUN Bucks card. Their account will have $120 in benefits for the summer period ($40 per month for June, July, and August). SUN Bucks cards can be used just like an EBT card.
For more information or to see if your child qualifies, visit the SUN Bucks page here: https://dcyf.mn.gov/sun-bucks

Dear Families,
We are proud to celebrate Public Schools Week, which takes place February 24-28, 2025. It gives us an opportunity to reflect on the critical role public education plays in shaping the future of our children, our community, and our nation—while expressing our appreciation for the teachers and staff who make it happen.
The people serving our schools work incredibly hard to ensure every student receives the academic, social, and emotional support they need to thrive. Their resilience, creativity, and compassion inspire us each day, and I know they inspire our students as well. We are extremely grateful for their contributions.
Here in Mora Public Schools, there are so many things to celebrate. We have exceptional educational opportunities for ALL of our students, safe and modern facilities, and numerous athletic and fine arts options for students.
Public schools are strongest when they are supported by the communities they serve, and we are fortunate to have a community that cares deeply about education. The involvement of our parents and caregivers in their children’s learning makes a profound difference. Whether you’re helping with homework, attending parent-teacher conferences, or attending school events, your support is invaluable.
Let’s continue to partner to ensure our local schools remain strong, vibrant, and ready to serve generations to come. Once again, thank you for your support of Mora Public Schools and the importance of educating each student.

Through frigid winters and hot sunny days across dirt roads and multi-lane highways, from the early morning to late at night, Minnesota’s school bus drivers safely transport over 682,000 students to and from school.
Take time to thank your bus drivers today:
Minnesota’s school bus drivers provide an incredible service to our students and communities. They are each responsible for the safety of dozens of children and support the success of our students and their families.
Minnesota's school bus drivers play a crucial role in our school systems and are important figures in children’s lives. They are often the first and last school representatives our students see each day, setting a positive tone for their learning experience. Their safe and timely services positively influence students' educational experience.
Thanks to the rigorous safety standards for bus drivers and their vehicles, students are nearly eight times safer riding to and from school in a school bus than in cars. The school bus system is the largest form of mass transit in Minnesota. School districts throughout Minnesota are seeking dedicated professionals to serve in these fulfilling roles.
Minnesota appreciates school bus drivers and recognizes the invaluable contributions they make to public education and student safety. Today, we recognize these worthy professionals.
THEREFORE, TIM WALZ, Governor of Minnesota, proclaims Wednesday, February 19, 2025, as: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION
