Mr. Nelson - Principal

Welcome to Mora High School! My name is Brent Nelson, and I am super excited to be in my 11th year as principal.

A Bit About Me:

• I grew up in St. Cloud and graduated from Tech High School.
• I attended Gustavus Adolphus College where I majored in Health and Physical Education.
• After college, I was a teacher and coach in Richfield, Minneapolis, and Underwood.
• Before moving to Mora, I was the assistant principal at Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
• For fun I enjoy laughing with my family and friends, traveling, working out and reading.
• My wife Amy teaches 3rd grade at Mora Elementary, and we have three sons and a dog.

I am extremely proud of all the positive things we have going on. Twice recently our students and staff have earned the title of one of the nation's top high schools, according to US News and World Report. We have the strongest and most exciting teaching staff you will find anywhere. I believe that Mora High School is the perfect size school. We are big enough that we offer over 80 elective courses and have over 40 student activities and clubs, yet with only approximately 130 students per grade, we still offer that small school feel centered on relationships.

Mr. Bakke - Assistant Principal

Hello and thank you for choosing Mora High School. My name is Nick Bakke,

and I am in my ninth year as assistant principal at Mora High School.

The staff and students at MHS are excited to be up to PAR this year. Being up to PAR means being PROACTIVE, ACCOUNTABLE, RESPECTFUL. MHS is a great place to learn because of our inclusive student body and the culture of being up to PAR they demonstrate every day.

• I grew up in Wright County and graduated from Dassel-Cokato HS.

• I graduated from the University of MN at Morris.

• Previous to Mora, I worked in the MACCRAY & Willmar schools. 

• My wife and I have four children in Mora schools.

• I am a member of the Mora Area Fire Department.

• When possible, my family enjoys the outdoors camping, hunting, and fishing.
